VietNamNet Bridge – National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines on Tuesday launched its first regional European office in France.

In a speech at the opening ceremony, chairman of Vietnam Airlines' Management Board Nguyen Sy Hung said that the office would operate, monitor and support its branches, representative offices and agents to resolve any business activities in Europe, except for in Russia.
Head of the office Le Dung said that last year revenues in the region accounted for nearly 20 per cent of the total revenues. In particular, Europe accounted for 30 per cent of its international sales.
The carrier increased its flights on the France-Viet Nam route from six to eight flights a week, and on the German-Viet Nam route from five to six flights a week last October to meet increased transport demands after the global economic meltdown.
Vietnam Airlines planned to add another flight a week on each of the routes.
The office also planned to co-ordinate with other branches and partners to organise commercial activities with the aim to tap into transport potentials in the region.
It said that the activities would help expand its flight network in Europe in the upcoming time, as Viet Nam had joined SkyTeam, one of the biggest aviation alliances worldwide, last June.
Vietnam Airlines also planned to develop its fleet to 150-160 aircrafts between 2015 and 2020, and rank on the list of the three biggest carriers in Asia in 2015-17.
After joining airline alliances worldwide, Vietnam Airlines will have access to more than 1,000 destinations in 170 countries around the world.
