Phnom Penh’s broad boulevards and colonial ambiance reflects the era when the French were present in Indo-China. Located at the confluence of two rivers, Cambodia’s capitol also has some excellent markets and fine temples. Most of the hotels are located around the riverside with more accommodation being rebuilt or renovated as tourism develops. Places of interest include the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda, the National Museum and the grisly Tuol Sleng Museum – a reminder of the dark days when Cambodia was ruled by the Khmer Rouge.
The budget New York Hotel Phnom Penh is situated in the city main business, shopping and entertainment district. Its is also within walking distance to many local attractions such as the Central Market, Wat Phnom Temple, the National Museum, and the Royal Palace. The New York Hotel has a good range of amenities and services. Rooms are unfussy, simply furnished, yet comfortable.
